China boosts efforts in ultra HD video sector
China is going to focus hard on the growth of an ultra HD video (4K/8K) industry by developing more ultra video industrial innovation and application centers. In order to fulfill the purpose, the Chinese Government emphasizes the strong cooperation between Chinese ultra HD video-related companies and their overseas counterparts, a senior official said.
"More robust policies will be induced to encourage overseas ultra HD video-related firms to collaborate with Chinese companies in developing the ultra video (4k/8k) industry," said Miao Wei, the minister of industry and information technology, while participating in 2019 World Conference on the Ultra HD Video (4K/8K) Industry in Guangzhou.
The event had a number of participants domestic as well as foreign players including Huawei Technologies Co and Sharp Corp - Japanese electronics maker. In one day event, showcasing their latest ultra HD video, enriching the industry with the constant innovation.
A number of provinces in China including Guangdong, Anhui, Hunan, and Sichuan, municipalities of Beijing, Shanghai and Chongqing, as well as the city of Qingdao in Shandong province also issued policies for the industry.
About nine projects in ultra HD video (8K) industrial demonstration and ultra video studio innovative platform was approved and Guangdong was identified as the national-level ultra HD video industrial development innovation area by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology National Radio and Television Administration.
Efforts By Government
Ma Xingrui, governor of Guangdong said, Guangdong, which introduced nation's first 4K TV channel. The province has now introduced more than 200 ultra HD video-related companies, in order to boost the movement, three ultra HD video industrial clusters have been established in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Huizhou.
As a result, The subscriber of 4K channels in Guangdong have crossed the 53 percent mark year-on-year to 15 million and the production of 4K television sets in the province have risen 31 percent year-on-year in 2018, Ma added.
Government is focusing on international cooperation in the ultra HD video industry and willing to invest more in R&D to be the leader in the sector. It is envisaged that innovative the 4K/8K technologies could be used in the areas of culture, education, entertainment, security and transportation, medical treatment and healthcare and industrial manufacturing," said Ma.
China Media Group in 2017 conferred that China's users of 4K set-top boxes have crossed 150 million. To maintain the conformity with the development, a national-level development plan for ultra HD video (4K/8K) industry issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, National Radio and Television Administration. The executive chief engineer, Nemoto Shoji, Sony Corporation, said its business in the Chinese market has boosted by the company's ultra HD video technologies applied in electronics display, entertainment, and finance.
